To See And Do
Erakor Lagoon is at your doorstep with Erakor Island just a kayak or free ferry away (historic missionary graves and chapel, snorkelling, restaurant). Brochures for many tours and attractions are available from Reception. And no visit to Vanuatu would be complete without dining out in some of the excellent restaurants – we send all our guests a comprehensive, up-to-date guide to dining out in Port Vila.
Here are a few suggestions for day tours/activities:
- Hideaway Island: Terrific snorkelling in the marine sanctuary, a good snack bar and a nice place to sit and read or unwind.
- Mele Cascades: Fabulous waterfall, refreshing plunge pools and a gentle jungle walk.
- Coongoola Cruise: A lovely day on a classic sailing ketch from Havannah Harbour – visit the turtle sanctuary, enjoy a beach BBQ and snorkelling and with a bit of luck have dolphins off the bow.
- Vanuatu Ecotours: Pascal Guillet and his terrific guides can take you on a bushwalk to Lololima Cascades (private waterfall and swimming hole), mountain biking or on a kayak safari up the Renbtapao River.
- Meridian Sunset Cruise: Unwind before dinner with drinks and nibbles on this sunset cruise from Port Vila harbour.
- Ekasup Village: This tour offers a traditional ni-Vanuatu village experience and is very rewarding.
- Game or Sport Fishing: Departs from the harbour front in town (arrange through reception). The fishing in Vanuatu is excellent!
- Scuba Diving: Diving is also excellent and accessible. There are introductory dives available.
- Golf: PLA guests may use the golf course at Le Lagon (charge applies) and the Port Vila Golf and Country Club at Mele has a very good 18-hole course. Guests are welcome and the holes are challenging. Friendly ni-Vanuatu caddies are available. Visitors can join the Saturday comp if they have proof of handicap.
- Horse Riding: At Club Hippique or the l’Hippocampus Seahorse Ranch for beginners to experienced riders.
- Museum & Cultural Centre: There’s a lot on Vanuatu’s interesting history from cannibalism to the Condominium.
